Game Over

Amazing! The grandson of a man who worked on oil rigs during the Great Depression and fought in Patton's army, and of a woman who worked on a bomber assembly line, has defeated one of the most significant political machines of our nation's history. Barack Obama, whose father grew up herding goats in Kenya and whose single mother grew up in a small town in Kansas, is virtually assured the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

Senator Obama is the epitome of the American Dream. His grandparents studied on the G.I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved west to Hawaii. He graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, eventually becoming President of the Harvard Law Review. He was a community organizer, civil rights attorney, constitutional law teacher, state legislator, and now a US Senator and six months away from becoming President of the United States of America.

Unfortunately, unsurprisingly, Senator Hillary Clinton continues her scorched earth style campaigning. Fortunately, voters in North Carolina (a big, diverse, swing state) and superdelegates across the country are ready to turn the page. This latest Clinton act alone should disqualify any notion of her being on the same ticket with Obama.

As Jack Cafferty said to Wolf Blitzer tonight, the hail mary pass has to be thrown before the game ends and this game is over.
